Paul Gamble

Paul is Chief Executive Officer at 55ip. Previously, he was Executive Vice President at Financial Engines, America’s largest independent investment advisor. Paul helped lead Financial Engines from a financial technology start-up to a publicly traded company. He led the institutional business with oversight of distribution strategy, sales, institutional marketing, strategic partnerships, implementation and relationship management. Paul has over 25 years of experience in advisory services, financial technology, investment management and retirement. Paul holds a BA from The College of Wooster and graduated from the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Sachin Shah

Sachin is the Chief Operating Officer at 55ip responsible for firm operations including all client facing functions. Over the past 21 years, Sachin has positioned his experience squarely at the intersection of investment management and investment technology. Prior to 55ip, Sachin was the COO at Ada Investments, acquired by 55ip in 2016, where he helped design and manage the operating platform that 55ip resides on today. Prior to joining Ada, Sachin developed and managed the Emerging Manager Fund Allocation platform at RBC Capital Markets. In his first startup, Sachin co-founded Nextgen Trading, LLC, an institutional-facing fintech company that was later sold (under the Carlin Financial Group brand) to RBC. During this period at Carlin, Sachin led the Prime Services sales team catering to hedge funds and family offices. In his earlier years, Sachin cut his teeth at US Trust, RBC and Bank of America where his team managed ~1B in special situation strategies. In addition, Sachin has volunteered both as the President of TiE NYC (The Indus Entrepreneurs) and as a Mentor for the Accenture Fintech Innovation Lab. He holds a BBA in Finance from The George Washington University.

Swati Bairathi

Swati is Chief Product Officer at 55ip where she leads product strategy and management. She has over 15 years of product management and consulting experience in several Financial Technology verticals including Investment Management, Wealth Management, Registered Investment Advisors (RIA). Swati was responsible for product and development of wealth management platform at Charles River Development wherein she built and launched Managed Accounts solutions used by some of world’s largest wealth managers. Prior to that, she has helped Fidelity Investments in creating a best of breed technology platform for private wealth management business. Swati headed the consulting services and pre-sales organization at investment management and tax optimization technology provider Upstream Technologies that was acquired by Fiserv. She started her career in management consulting at Accenture’s Capital Markets practice. Swati holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from MNIT, Jaipur and MBA in Finance from University of Delhi.

Gautam is the Chief Technology Officer at 55ip where he leads the firm’s software development, technology architecture and the operations of its Mumbai office. He has over 15 years of experience in Quantitative Finance, Software Engineering and Project Management across several financial services’ verticals such as Investment Management & Advisory and General Insurance. Prior to 55ip, Gautam was a Principal at Ada Investments where he headed up the development of the firm’s investment platform that enabled designing portfolio solutions using financial research and quantitative methods. He has spent multiple years in the UK as a technology specialist to the Lloyds Insurance market. Gautam has completed his MBA from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and has received his B.E from the University of Mumbai, India. He is a Certified Financial Analyst [CFA®] charter holder.

Leonid Kogan

Leonid is the Chief Investment Scientist at 55ip and the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Professor of Management and Professor of Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Leonid’s research, which covers theoretical and empirical topics in capital markets, has appeared in leading academic journals. Over his career he has won numerous awards, including, the 2013 Crowell Memorial Prize for his work on technological innovation and growth; the 2013 Whitebox Advisors Award for his work on the price impact of mutual fund trading and timing of SEOs; and most recently, the 2014 Amundi Smith Breeden Prize for his work on the effect of technology shocks on stock prices. Leonid holds a Master’s degree in mechanics and applied mathematics from the Moscow State University, a Ph.D. in mechanics from Cornell University, and a Ph.D. degree in finance from MIT.

Dennis Follmer

Dennis is the Managing Director of Portfolio Management at 55ip. Over the last 25 years, he has garnered extensive portfolio management and leadership experience at several firms, including serving as the Head of Portfolio Management for a large, Boston-based asset management firm, serving on the management committee of two previous firms, managing hedge fund portfolios for both fundamental and systematic strategies, and launching multiple investment businesses, including as a founding partner of Oceanwood Capital Management, a $2 billion hedge fund spin-off from Tudor Investment Corp. Dennis holds an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT, and graduated summa cum laude with Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Miami University.

Dr. Vinay Nair

Founder & Chairman

A serial entrepreneur, investor and academic, Vinay has started, is an advisor or board member in several companies in financial services. Most recently, he founded TIFIN group to invest in companies linking investments and technology, under which he founded Magnifi, Market Insight Out and Positivly. He is also the founder and chairman of 55ip. Previously,  he was the CEO and founder of Ada Investments, a quantitative hedge fund.

Vinay is also a faculty member at the Wharton School where he teaches venture capital, private equity and entrepreneurship. He has been a visiting professor at Columbia Business School and the MIT Sloan School of Management among others. His work has been published in leading finance journals and he authored ‘Investing for Change’ (Oxford University Press, 2008). He holds a PhD in Financial Economics from the Stern School of Business at NYU with an award for the best thesis, and a Bachelors of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras with a gold medal award .

Bruno del Ama

Board Member

Bruno is focused on improving financial wellness through his business and philanthropic efforts, including: Chairman of FinRebel, a purpose driven VC; Executive Chairman of Arbor, a fintech focused on financial wellness; co-founder and Chairman of GIV, which aims to transform how individuals and corporations give.

Bruno co-founded Global X in 2008. Recognized as one of the most innovative and fastest growing firms in the exchange traded fund (ETF) sector, Global X grew to over $10 billion in assets under management under his stewardship as CEO & Chairman, with close to a million investors globally. He and his partners sold the firm to Mirae Asset Global Investments in 2018.

Before Global X, Bruno served as Head of Operations in the structured products business at Radian Asset Assurance. Previously, he was a consultant at Oliver Wyman, where he advised leading financial services firms.

Bruno holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a CFA charter holder.

Steven is an Advisory Managing Partner and a founding member of Oak Hill Capital Partners. He has served as a Managing Partner of Oak Hill Capital Partners for over 25 years and chaired the Firm’s Investment Committee. While at Oak Hill, Steven was also a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Insurance Partners, LP. Prior to joining Oak Hill in 1990, he was a Managing Director and Co-Head of High Yield Securities at Lehman Brothers and was a Managing Director of its merchant banking group as well as a member of Lehman Brothers’ Investment Committee. Steven holds a BA degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

William is a Partner of Oak Hill Capital, where he is responsible for originating, structuring and managing investments in the technology industry and Services group. Prior to joining Oak Hill in 2004, he served for 26 years at McKinsey & Company, where he was a Director and Managing Partner. Prior to that, he led McKinsey’s high technology and telecom practice in Europe. William is a Board Member of several corporations and not-for-profit organizations such as Intermedia.net, StepNexus, Monsoon Inc., Oversee.net, ViaWest, SVTC Technologies, and The Tech Museum of Innovation. He holds an AB, cum laude, from Harvard University and an MBA, with distinction, from Harvard Business School.

Dr. Matthew Rhodes-Kropf

Matt is a managing partner at Tectonic Ventures as well as a visiting professor at MIT. He has invested in several companies such as Axioma, Rackspace, Avid Radiopharmaceuticals, Xenex, Bidshift, Respicardia and Edusoft. Matt is also a research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Previously a faculty member in the Entrepreneurial Management department at Harvard Business School, he also published many HBS cases. Matt was also formerly a finance professor at Columbia University’s Business School where he taught Entrepreneurial Finance. He holds a BA in computer science and economics and an MA and PhD in economics from Duke University. Matt is currently co-chairman of the advisory board for Duke University’s Graduate School.

Thomas C. Tinsley

Tom recently retired as a Managing Director with General Atlantic, where he served from 1999 to 2016. Prior to that he served as the CEO of Baan Company, NV and prior to that was a Director at McKinsey & Company, where he worked for 18 years. Tom has served on numerous public, private and non-profit boards. Currently, he serves on the boards of the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame, The F.B. Heron Foundation and Philanthropic Research Inc., BMC Software, Trax Technologies, Intermedia.net, Guidestar USA, Xchanging B.V., and Stroz Friedberg LLC. Additionally, Tom serves as Co-Chair of the DC Region for Teach for America and on the boards of Life Flight of Maine and the Island Institute of Maine. He holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
