Paul Gamble

Chief Executive Officer

Paul is Chief Executive Officer at 55ip. Previously, he was Executive Vice President at Financial Engines, America’s largest independent investment advisor. Paul helped lead Financial Engines from a financial technology start-up to a publicly traded company. He was general manager for the institutional business with oversight of distribution strategy, sales, institutional marketing, strategic partnerships, implementation and relationship management. Paul has over 25 years of experience in advisory services, financial technology, investment management and retirement. He is a member of the executive and operating committees of the Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA). Paul holds a BA from The College of Wooster and graduated from the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Sachin Shah

Chief Operating Officer

Sachin is the Chief Operating Officer at 55ip responsible for revenue generating processes. Previously, Sachin was the Chief Operating Officer at Ada Investments, acquired by 55 in 2016. Prior to joining Ada, Sachin developed and managed the Emerging Manager Fund Allocation platform at RBC Capital Markets. In his first startup, Sachin co-founded Nextgen Trading, LLC – an institutional-facing fin-tech company that was later sold (under the name Carlin Financial Group) to RBC. During this period at Carlin, Sachin led the Prime Services sales team catering to emerging hedge funds. In his earlier years, Sachin held positions at US Trust, RBC and Bank of America where he worked on equity and M&A research. In addition, Sachin volunteers both as the President and Chairman of the Board of TiE NYC (The Indus Entrepreneurs) and as a Mentor for the Accenture Fintech Innovation Lab. He holds a BBA in Finance from The George Washington University.

Swati Bairathi

Chief Product Officer

Swati is Chief Product Officer at 55ip where she leads product strategy and management. She has over 15 years of product management and consulting experience in several Financial Technology verticals including Investment Management, Wealth Management, Registered Investment Advisors (RIA). Swati was responsible for product and development of wealth management platform at Charles River Development wherein she built and launched Managed Accounts solutions used by some of world's largest wealth managers. Prior to that, she has helped Fidelity Investments in creating a best of breed technology platform for private wealth management business. Swati headed the consulting services and pre-sales organization at investment management and tax optimization technology provider Upstream Technologies that was acquired by Fiserv. She started her career in management consulting at Accenture’s Capital Markets practice. Swati holds a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from MNIT, Jaipur and MBA in Finance from University of Delhi.

Gautam Sachdev

Chief Technology Officer

Gautam is Chief Technology Officer at 55ip where he leads the firm’s software development and the operations of its Mumbai office. He has over 15 years of experience in Quantitative Finance, Software Engineering and Project Management across several financial services’ verticals such as Investment Management & Advisory and General Insurance. Prior to 55ip, Gautam was a Principal at Ada Investments where he headed up the development of the firm’s investment platform to design portfolio solutions using financial research and quantitative methods. He has spent several years in the UK as a technology consultant to the Insurance sector. Gautam has completed his MBA from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and has received his B.E from the University of Mumbai, India.

Dr. Vinay Nair

Founder & Chairman

Dr. Vinay Nair, Ph.D. is the Founder & Chairman at 55ip. Dr. Nair was the Founding Principal at Ada Investment Management LP where he helped form an investment platform and team to design portfolio solutions using financial research and quantitative methods. Prior to founding Ada, Dr.Nair was research director at Old Lane, a hedge fund firm founded by senior executives at Morgan Stanley. Dr. Nair is a visiting professor at The Wharton School and at The Sloan School at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), having previously been a full-time faculty member at The Wharton School, and has also been a visiting professor at The University of Pompeu-Fabra (Barcelona), University of Amsterdam, The Indian School of Business and the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University. His teaching interests are in private equity, investment management, entrepreneurship and fintech. He authored 'Investing for Change' in 2008. Dr. Nair completed his Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the New York University - Leonard N. Stern School of Business with an award for the best thesis. Dr. Nair received a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT, Madras), where he was awarded the Governor's Gold Medal for curricular and extra-curricular excellence.

Steven B. Gruber

Board Member

Steven is an Advisory Managing Partner and a founding member of Oak Hill Capital Partners. He has served as a Managing Partner of Oak Hill Capital Partners for over 25 years and chaired the Firm’s Investment Committee. While at Oak Hill, Steven was also a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Insurance Partners, LP. Prior to joining Oak Hill in 1990, he was a Managing Director and Co-Head of High Yield Securities at Lehman Brothers and was a Managing Director of its merchant banking group as well as a member of Lehman Brothers’ Investment Committee. Steven holds a BA degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

William J. Pade

William is a Partner of Oak Hill Capital, where he is responsible for originating, structuring and managing investments in the technology industry and Services group. Prior to joining Oak Hill in 2004, he served for 26 years at McKinsey & Company, where he was a Director and Managing Partner. Prior to that, he led McKinsey's high technology and telecom practice in Europe. William is a Board Member of several corporations and not-for-profit organizations such as Intermedia.net, StepNexus, Monsoon Inc., Oversee.net, ViaWest, SVTC Technologies, and The Tech Museum of Innovation. He holds an AB, cum laude, from Harvard University and an MBA, with distinction, from Harvard Business School.

Dr. Matthew Rhodes-Kropf

Board Member

Matt is a managing partner at Tectonic Ventures as well as a visiting professor at MIT. He has invested in several companies such as Axioma, Rackspace, Avid Radiopharmaceuticals, Xenex, Bidshift, Respicardia and Edusoft. Matt is also a research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Previously a faculty member in the Entrepreneurial Management department at Harvard Business School, he also published many HBS cases. Matt was also formerly a finance professor at Columbia University’s Business School where he taught Entrepreneurial Finance. He holds a BA in computer science and economics and an MA and PhD in economics from Duke University. Matt is currently co-chairman of the advisory board for Duke University’s Graduate School.

Thomas C. Tinsley

Board Member

Tom recently retired as a Managing Director with General Atlantic, where he served from 1999 to 2016. Prior to that he served as the CEO of Baan Company, NV and prior to that was a Director at McKinsey & Company, where he worked for 18 years. Tom has served on numerous public, private and non-profit boards. Currently, he serves on the boards of the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame, The F.B. Heron Foundation and Philanthropic Research Inc., BMC Software, Trax Technologies, Intermedia.net, Guidestar USA, Xchanging B.V., and Stroz Friedberg LLC. Additionally, Tom serves as Co-Chair of the DC Region for Teach for America and on the boards of Life Flight of Maine and the Island Institute of Maine. He holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Dr. Leonid Kogan

Chief Investment Scientist

Leonid is the Chief Investment Scientist at 55ip and the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Professor of Management and Professor of Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Leonid’s research, which covers theoretical and empirical topics in capital markets, has appeared in leading academic journals. Over his career he has won numerous awards, including, the 2013 Crowell Memorial Prize for his work on technological innovation and growth; the 2013 Whitebox Advisors Award for his work on the price impact of mutual fund trading and timing of SEOs; and most recently, the 2014 Amundi Smith Breeden Prize for his work on the effect of technology shocks on stock prices. Leonid holds a Master’s degree in mechanics and applied mathematics from the Moscow State University, a Ph.D. in mechanics from Cornell University, and a Ph.D. degree in finance from MIT.
